Hello from Slovakia! Unfortunatly this post will be without images. Brett and I can barely figure out how to use the keyboards and I am afriad that loading pictures may cause the citys power grid to crash. Look at these letters or symbols we now have to navigate. § ň ú ä ľ š č ť ž ý Needless to say we are already missing the Polish we spoke so badly. We have finally reached the mountains and are currently in the mountain town of Lipt. Mikuláš. We are eating anything and everything and our new mosquito tent, made in the last Polish town we stayed in in fact, is allowing us to get our beauty rest. We are trying to find someone to host us in Budapest via CouchSurfing.com. So far we have been taken care of very well primarily by our hosts mother who they still live with. The families are much tighter knit. We ride anywhere from 5 to 8 hours a day. These numbers are decreasing as the road grade percentage is increasing. Holy shit was that road today was steep. This whole country seems to be a vast mountain range. Brett thinks we can cross it in 3 days. I think five. Regardless our legs will look like redwoods and our skin like bronze. We must prepare for the beaches of Croatia. We only need those speedos...or do we-a question mark goes here but i dont know how to make it go. Much love from Europe. Thanks for the posts. It is great to hear from everybody. Steve and Brett

  1. Again, great hearing your words; glad you are safe. Michigan is 90 and muggy.....ick. Lots of rides on the Vespa help stay cool. Sunflowers are popping beautifully here.

It must feel so bizarre to type on a strange keyboard that you don't understand. Still, from your post, I can see you two, tan and strong, and most likely driving the young girls crazy as you glide by..... all the best. Miss you. (, I'll have to meet you someday, hopefully next May when I come out to Oregon.) Thanks for keeping us informed. I check your site often and follow you on the map. Be safe, enjoy. 2. I love the idea of the two of you shorting out the power in a Slovakian mountain village and narrowly escaping with old bread and mosquito nets. Quite an adventure. If you meet any drunk old men you should ask them to tell you a Slovakian fairy tale or two, and relay them to your eager fans back home. Take care, keep writing...

  3. So good to hear from you and glad you are safe. The weather in PA has been very hot - 90+ for days, but....not much in the way of mosquitoes. As Steve's mom does, I follow you on the map and look forward to your posts-I check a couple times a day! Hope you're journaling because your adventues are remarkable. Of course, Brett thinks you can push it!! Stay safe, miss hearing your voice, but so happy you are living this dream. Love from Mom

  4. Hi B (and S)! I am reluctantly home from Bend. I seriously considered the ramifications of just not coming home because I loved there. Your friends are rad. I could have moved permanently into your room. They were all super awesome to me (esp Nate who slowed himself up on the mt bike trails for me: v. chivalrous). I'm happy you guys are having a good time despite the rain. Lauren.

  6. It sounds like you guys are having a blast, wish I was there. Budapest is a blast and Croatia will be even better...drink some Rakia for me when you are down on the coast. San Diego has been a blast and I have been surfing and kayak surfing (waveskiing) the days away before I have to get a job! The weather has been 72, sunny, and a slight breeze. I think it stays that way till...forever! Be safe and come visit SD when you get back.
